the greater love is a mother’s; then a dog’s; then a sweetheart’s…sorry boys

Inspired by a show -n- tell of a good friend’s recent purchase (the soon to be Mrs. Langevin-Langevin), we realized we have been totally slacking on the apparel fit for a prince or princess…dog sweaters by golly!

We take so much time in talking about the human side of things like life, love, and fashion, when we have been ignoring man’s best friend. To take that even further, Tawny’s grandmother used to crochet sweaters for her doggies in beautiful patterns and color combinations. NY’ers would walk by and say ‘What beautiful sweaters…are those byMissoni?’ No, they are “Grandma Ruby Special’s!”–we miss you G Ruby, but we’re carrying you always…So here it goes.

One little, gray, dapper German we know used to purchase his mini sweaters from a store in West Hartford, CT called “Reigning Cats and Dogs”. Sadly, it is now closed so we had to find a new doggie wear contender. And sadly, this bearded fella now resides in Florida where sweaters have come to pass. Now he need only sport this.

Almost impossible, right? We’re up for the challenge.

Modern Tails is a great site for dog gear in general. For the cold weather that is a-comin’, we think these “cover me-alls” can certainly compete with our past champ (p.s. the prices are very similar as well).

To err is human, to forgive canine…these little loves in our lives certainly deserve to be spoiled at holiday time, and not just the customary six pack of rawhides in the ol’ stocking routine.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too. ~Samuel Butler, Notebooks, 1912
